Reverse Osmosis Filters – Frequently Asked Questions

How does a reverse osmosis system work?

How does reverse osmosis work? Our reverse osmosis system contains the patented manifold plate that directs the flow of water through each of the filtration steps. The simplified manifold design enhances the system by minimizing the need for individual connections between filtration stages.

The reverse osmosis process uses pressure to filter water. Water passes through the membranes, allowing the passage of pure water molecules, but no dissolved solids, organics, pyrogens and bacteria. The result is clean, purified water that’s ready to drink directly from the tap.

Does reverse osmosis remove minerals?

Yes. The reverse osmosis filtration process removes dissolved minerals from water, including excess calcium and magnesium—both of which are found in high concentrations in Las Vegas water. You can also consider a water softening system to remove minerals from your tap water.

Does reverse osmosis remove chlorine?

Depending on which membrane your system uses, reverse osmosis is able to remove a significant portion of chlorine from tap water. However, some chlorine may make it through the filtration membrane. This is why a prefilter with activated carbon is added to some reverse osmosis filtration systems to ensure all chlorine is removed.

Does reverse osmosis remove lead?

All reverse osmosis systems will remove common chemical contaminants, including heavy metals like lead, copper, and chromium. You can feel confident that your water is lead-free when you use a reverse osmosis filter.

How much is a reverse osmosis system?

Reverse osmosis systems’ cost depends on which system you choose to install in your home or office. Some systems can purify water at a faster rate, have better wastewater ratios, and require less maintenance. Prices can vary based on these factors. Contact our friendly team of experts for an estimate on our filtration systems and which RO unit is best for you.
